What do I write?
If I told you I write adult romance and young adult fiction, that doesn't really tell you much, does it? Here's what you can expect to find in my stories:
-
Sweet with Heat - Most readers tell me my romances are "sweet," but this is not to be confused with "clean and wholesome" fiction. I write both open and closed door scenes, but if my books were a television show, it would not be in the mature audiences category. It would be more like a soap opera. Think of my books as sweet, emotional books with a smidgen of heat. Nothing R rated, but definitely PG-13!
-
Contemporary Romance - This means books that are written in the current time period. While I do enjoy reading historical fiction, I do not write historical romance.
-
Romantic Suspense - I might be dabbling in this soon. Is there a category that blends contemporary small town romance with suspense? I enjoy reading and writing books where there's an element of danger, but nothing too elaborate. You know, just your average stalker or crazy ex...
-
Slow Burn Romance - If you're looking for "instalove" stories, you won't find them from me. I love to write a good slow burn where it takes forever for the characters to admit they love each other.
-
Realistic Young Adult Fiction - This means you're not going to find some epic YA fantasy from me. I grew up reading authors like Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary. I write young adult fiction with female protagonists. My characters deal with issues concerning family, friends, school, and the joys (or horrors) of going through puberty. Think first crushes, arguments with friends, and first periods. Oh, and locker room drama. All the gym horror stories!
-
On the cusp of YA - Some of my stories could be categorized as middle grade, but I think a more accurate description would be on the cusp of YA. Too old for Middle Grade fiction. Perhaps a very young YA. Somewhere in the middle. We need books for the tweens and young teens out there!
